Due to the stratification of the marble blocks and the production process,
it is impossible to get a complete blend of shades in the cartons. It is
extremely important that the installer respect this special product, and
choose tiles from many cartons and give attention to achieving a complete
range of shades when installing. Even though this material is semi-polished,
it still needs to be sealed and maintained like all natural stone.
 Travertine Colors
Travertine is formed by the stratification of Calcium Carbonate with sulfates,
in a slow process of conformation. The color variation is caused by the
intrusion of iron oxides and by a varying percentage of clay. Especially
in the Travertine Noce, we find a greater concentration of clay. The clay
is also responsible for the grey, dark spots that may appear to be poorly
done, man-made fill, are in reality, structural parts created during
the conformation of the travertine itself. As with all Travertine stone,
expect natural pitting or empty areas which can look like chips when they
occur on the edge of the material. |
