Additional Information

Sizes

2 x 2 Mosaics, Herringbone and 4” Hex are only stocked in Natural Finish.

* The 24 x 48 Natural is a larger caliber and is not modular with the other sizes.

Due to the special packing required for the large format tiles, orders for the 24x48 size must be for full box quantities only & we are not able to fill orders on the same day as placed.

Trim

The surface bullnose is made from field tile that is ground and reglazed.

Coordinating Trim

Polished Finish (Glazed with shiny glaze to coordinate with the Polished field.)

Usage

Natural finish is suitable for both residential and moderate commercial installations. The Polished finish is suitable for walls and for residential and light commercial floors that do not require DCOF.

Installation

To attain the proper mix of graphics and color, it is important to pull from multiple boxes during installation, rotate pieces, and note the placement of the different images to get the proper final blend. Most Italian manufacturers recommend a maximum offset of 8” (20cm) on all large format tiles when setting a running bond. Please refer to ANSI requirements for setting large format tiles, ANSI A 108.2 Section 4.3.8. There are special setting requirements and materials for large format tiles. Please refer to the TCNA Handbook and guidelines by your mortar manufacturer for more information. Using a leveling system can improve the installation of this product.

Like real stone, some pieces have more veining than others and vary within each carton. It is important to mix tile within each carton and blend tile from several cartons. We suggest laying out an area before starting installation, to attain the proper mix of veining. The cut sizes may have small irregularities due to the manufacturing process.

Polished Finish

As with all shiny material, the polished surface is susceptible to scratching during installation and use, and extra care should be taken when handling the material. The factory does not recommend using an epoxy based grout because it can be very hard to remove from the surface of the tile during grouting. They also do not recommend using a sealer on the polished tiles. Polished material can be etched with acids. Avoid detergents, solvents or acid-based products containing hydrochloric acid, citric acid, acetic acid or abrasive components. Do not use cleaning agents like abrasive cleaners which might scratch the surface. It is advisable to test a small area in a not highly visible section of the tiles before proceeding to clean the whole surface.

testing
The Coefficient of Friction is a general guide only. Testing may vary with different production runs and with different testing labs.

As noted in the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) the coefficient of friction varies considerably due to facts not under the control of entities such as the manufacturers and distributors. These factors include, but are not limited to, contaminants, slope of terrain, drainage conditions, adjacent surfaces, etc. Suitability for any installation can only be determined by a site examination of all conditions that could affect the slip resistance of the tile being installed. Continual cleaning and maintenance must be performed once the tile has been installed.
