Carmen Downtown | Spanish Porcelain Tile
Downtown is inspired by the concrete floor of a gritty loft in a thriving urban area, redesigned as a small format porcelain with a handcrafted look and feel. The color palette includes two rich greys, a white and a warm neutral. Since it has the character of a handmade product, the tiles will vary in size, thickness and have other minor imperfections to achieve this handcrafted look. You will need to adjust the size of the grout joints, making some a little narrower and some a little wider, to accommodate these differences. This is especially true when using different colors or Gleam and plain together in a pattern as this can emphasize the differences.

Please Note
It’s never advisable to select tile from images alone, especially when viewed on a screen since they can look different on different kinds of screens. Pictures are provided to give an idea of the look and variation. Colors are intended as a guide only and may vary from actual tile. Sizes listed are nominal. Please check samples before making final selection and to get actual dimensions for layout.
Coordinating Trim
Expect variation in color and size between field and trims. The pencil bullnose is somewhat thicker than the tile.
Gleam Deco
The Gleam deco features an embossed linear pattern on the surface of each tile. There are 12 different patterns that are packed and sold randomly, and orders may not include equal quantities of all patterns. Please make sure to blend the material during installation, mixing the patterns well and changing the orientation of pieces to get the intended random result.
Ordering Information
Due to the nature of this special material, orders for the 5x5 field and Gleam Deco must be for full boxes only. Please note that we do not accept returns in general. In the rare occurrence that we make an exception and do take a return of this product, only factory sealed full boxes can be accepted.
Installation Information
Downtown is suitable for walls and residential floors. The White color may be suitable for light commercial floors. Downtown should be treated as handmade product that requires an installer with a high level of expertise. It is not recommend to install using spacers. Instead, the installer should adjust the size of the grout joints, making some a little narrower and some a little wider, to accommodate the expected differences in size and shape of the pieces. This is especially true when using different colors or Gleam and plain together in a pattern as this can increase the variation. The minimum recommended grout joint is 1/8”.
It is recommended to use a grout color similar to the color of the tile and to avoid contrasting grouts. It is important to mix pieces within each carton and from several cartons to attain a proper blend. Expect variation from production run to production run, and between the different colors and the Gleam decorative.
